More than half of all West Australian adults are now overweight or obese and face an increased risk of heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes as well as a range of mental health issues such as discrimination, social isolation and poor self-esteem.

With more than a quarter of West Australian kids now overweight or obese our children are also at risk of an unhealthy future.
In 2008 alone it is estimated that obesity directly contributed to approximately 64,000 cases of cardiovascular disease, 24,000 cases of type 2 diabetes and 3,000 cases of cancer. The full cost of obesity in WA in 2008 was estimated at a massive $5.8 billion.
It’s up to each of us to help draw the line and start turning things around for a healthier future for ourselves as well as future generations.
